Continuing from the previous section. In this section I will demonstrate how you register for a virgin money online account and how you login to that account so that you can view your purchase statements and so on.

To register for a Virgin Money Online Account begin by going to the Virgin Money website. Type http://uk.virginmoney.com/virgin/ into internet explorer's Address Bar edit box and then click on its GO button to continue.

When you arrive on the virgin money website (above) hover over the MY VIRGIN MONEY menu to reveal its menu-items and then click on the PREPAID CARD menu-item. It will take you to the login/register page (below) where you then need to select your card type in the CHOOSE YOUR CARD drop-down menu. The card type corresponds to the first four digits of your virgin debit card (i.e. 5181 Mastercard, 4122 Visa or 4084 Visa). Once selected the page will then refresh whereby you then need to click on the REGISTER link (underneath the LOGIN SECURELY button) to bring up the Web Account Setup window (Fig 1.2).

The Web Account Setup window requires you to register your virgin money Debit Card Number (16 Digits), your Date Of Birth and your E-Mail Address. These are the basics. Clicking on the SUBMIT button then takes you to a page that asks you to choose a User Name, Password and Memorable Date (below) which you will need when logging into your online account. A Secret Answer to a Secret Question is also required in case you forget your password and so on.

Once you have registered an online virgin money account you can login to it by filling in your User Name & Password in the Login Area - Select your Card Type from the drop-down menu, fill in your User Name & Password and then click on the LOGIN SECURELY button to continue. Doing so will bring up the secure Online Service window (Fig 2.1 below) where you then need to enter the requested parts of your memorable date before clicking on the LOGIN button.

Now that you are logged into your account, securely, you can view your purchase statements and top-up statements by clicking on the STATEMENTS link (on the left side of the window). In this example my statements are hidden of course, but if I did want to view them I would simply scroll down the window content. You can also top-up your debit card from here using an 360money e-voucher for example.

When you have finished viewing/printing your statements, topped up your debit card via this online account, or whatever you have just finished doing remember to logout - Click on the LOGOUT button to logout of your account (above) and then click on the CLOSE button (below) to close the Online Service window completely.

Hopefully you can see the benefits of having a p.a.y.g debit card. It gives extra security when paying for things online. Virgin Money are not the only company doing this. There is also Sterling Card, Tuxedo and Prime amongst others. On top of this Compare Prepaid is a dedicated website that compares prepaid cards for you.
