MOVE,  A  WINDOW

To move a window means to drag it across the monitor screen, using the Mouse Drag technique described below. Only a non-maximized window can be dragged.

  1. Click on a window's Title Bar and then keep the left mouse button clicked (held down) until the Elastic Band appears (Fig 1.1).

  2. With the left mouse button still clicked, slowly start to move the elastic band (mouse pointer) towards the window's new position. The elastic band acts as a preview to where you can position the window (Fig 1.2).

  3. When you have found the ideal position simply let go of the left mouse button. The elastic band will disappear and the window will move into its new position.

Although the drag technique is straight forward, it does take pratice to do the more skilled positioning. Like dragging a window into a corner of the desktop and so on.

A window can only be dragged when it is not maximized simply because it can only be dragged (moved) within the boundaries (display area) of the desktop. Therefore, it is impossible to drag (move) a maximized window because it is already taking up the whole of the desktop display area.
