| RENAME A FOLDER |
If you look at a newly created folder you will notice its name (New Folder) is highlighted in blue, surrounded by an Edit Box. This means it is waiting to be edited (Renamed). An edit box is a box that allows you to edit the text already inside it or type in some new text.
When you click, anywhere, inside the edit box for the first time the text becomes un-highlighted and a flashing cursor is positioned where you clicked (Fig 1.2). In Fig 1.2 I have clicked in between letters F and o. From here I can type new letters and/or delete old ones in order to rename the folder (Fig 1.3 and Fig 1.4). In this example I am renaming New Folder to New Friends. This did not have to be the case though. I could of renamed the folder John or whatever.

When you rename a folder you usually press the ENTER keyboard key to set the folder's new name. However. This also re-selects the folder, and its new name, which means accidents can happen. For example. If you press the DEL (Delete) keyboard key, while the folder is selected, a Requester will appear asking you if you want to delete the folder. To avoid this scenario just click anywhere inside the Documents window display area, after renaming, to set the new name and to then de-select the folder (Fig 1.6).
If you want to delete the whole of the old name (New Folder), before renaming, simply press the DEL keyboard key when the name is selected (Fig 1.8). More information about the Edit Box can be found in the Edit Box section.

| RENAME AN EXISTING FOLDER |
To rename an existing folder you must first have it selected, by clicking on either its folder name or its yellow folder icon.
Once the folder is selected you then have the choice of two menu methods. With menu method one, place the mouse pointer over the selected folder and then right-click. A menu will then appear (Fig 2.2).
Now go up (or down) the menu-items with the mouse pointer until you reach the RENAME menu-item. As you do this each menu-item will become highlighted, temporarily, as you go past it. When you have reached RENAME and have it highlighted simply click the left mouse button to activate the RENAME Edit Box.
From there you can rename the folder as described in the Rename A Folder section above. Technically. You did not have
to select the folder first, with this menu method, as a Right-Click acts as a Double Click. So in this case the
Right-Click selects the folder and then shows the menu.
Menu method two uses the current folder's window menu to activate RENAME. Once the folder is selected (see Fig 2.1 above)
click on the File menu, which is located in the top-left corner of the current folder's window. In this example, in the
top-left corner of the Documents window (Fig 2.4 below).
After clicking on the File menu its menu-items will appear (Fig 2.5 below). Go up (or down) the menu-items with the mouse pointer until you reach the RENAME menu-item. As you do this each menu-item will become highlighted, temporarily, as you go past it. When you have reached RENAME and have it highlighted simply click the left mouse button to activate the RENAME Edit Box (see Fig 2.3 above).
As you can see, the two menu methods are alike. And this is the case for most menus. So always check to see if there is a Right-Click menu available for the task you are doing.
